If you are foolhardy enough to take creepily love-obsessed Laina, aka Overly Attached Girlfriend, out on just one date in spite of warnings splashed all over YouTube, then brace yourself for the nightmarish ordeal of having to ditch her.
Recently, Jimmy Tatro of Life According To Jimmy, went through the sheer terror of dating and ditching crazy Laina.
Laina, popularly known as "Overly Attached Girlfriend," is an Internet superstar. According to idigitaltimes, as YouTube user wzr0713, in June, she uploaded a video "JB Fanvideo," (see video above) in which she plays the part of a creepy, bug-eyed girl doing a parody of Justin Bieber's hit "Boyfriend," as "overly protective girlfriend," keeping detailed watch over her lover. According to The Huffington Post, she rose to YouTube stardom with the video that received 12 million views, developed into a "Call Me Maybe" parody and spawned "overly attached girlfriend" meme on Reddit.
Laina's new video, "Breaking Up With Overly Attached Girlfriend," shows Jimmy Tatro in the delicate process of breaking up with the wide-eyed love-glue. The video has gone viral online with over a million views since it was posted to YouTube just two days ago.
The video begins with Jimmy telling a friend on the phone about Laina's maddening love antics. She arrives wide-eyed and creepy smiling even as she takes an ominous door-locking precaution. Boyfriend Jimmy now proceeds, delicately, to break the bad news that its over. But alas! when Laina loves, she does so with a fanatical single-mindedness resistant to the most blatant negative verbal feedback. She prolongs Jimmy's torture with irrelevant questions such as about the turtle-neck sweater she got him, and half-witted lovey-dovey comments such as "I wish I could live in your socks so I could be with you every step of the way."
Watch for Laina's reaction when Jimmy finally delivers the message.
In spite of her reputation as the ultimate girlfriend nightmare, Laina has a dedicated cult of male fans. The Huffington Post reports that an equally starry-eyed, lovelorn YouTube fan, enthuses, "LAINA. MARRY ME!"
