Radio-Canada is reporting that the Quebec MP and son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau will announce early next week that he will run for the leadership of the federal Liberal Party.
Justin Trudeau is expected to announce he will run for the party leadership next Tuesday according to reports from La Presse.
Trudeau has been rumoured for months to be considering a run for the party’s top job with his many supporters hoping his brand name can kick-start the party.
Trudeau was elected to the House of Commons in 2008 for the riding of Papineau and was re-elected in 2011. The Liberal leadership convention is to be held in Ottawa on April 14, 2013.
