Socialite Paris Hilton hits Hawaii amid controversy stemming from her reported derogatory statement about gays and the gay community.
Hilton was spotted in a Maui beach resort Sunday together with new boyfriend River Viiperi, a 21-year-old Spanish model.
On Saturday, OMG.yahoo.com wrote, "the new couple, who met in early September at New York Fashion Week, was spotted walking hand in hand on the beach, and later at a nearby eatery grabbing fruity cocktails. "Lovely Hawaiian dinner tonight at one of my favorite restaurants," she tweeted. "Now in bed watching Men In Black 3."
The 31-year-old hotel heiress had to apologize to the gay community for her statement about gays who she reportedly referred to as "disgusting" and the "horniest people in the world."
In an audio recording, Hilton said (via Radaronline.com), "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS."
The audio was secretly recorded by the taxi driver while Hilton and her companion were engaging in an intimate conversation about gays inside the taxi.
The conversations as reported by Radaronline.com based on the recorded audio went this way:
The male friend says: "Say I log into Grindr, someone that's on Grindr can be in that building and it tells you all the locations of where they are and you can be like, 'Yo, you wanna f**k?' and he might be on like, the sixth floor," the pal says.
"Ewww. Eww. To get f**ked? Gay guys are the horniest people in the world," Paris is heard saying in the exclusive audio in response.
"They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS."
Drawing criticism and rage from the gay community over the controversial audiotape, Hilton who is also a popular fashion model, wasted no time in issuing a public apology for the leaked audio recording which she considers as private conversation.
"I want to say how sorry I am. I can't fit the whole apology about the cab recording here, so please read it at @GLAAD," she tweeted late Thursday, including a link to her longer mea culpa on the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation website.
"I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word," she said via Los Angeles Times.
Hilton, who is 10 years older than her current boyfriend, met Viiperi less than two weeks ago at the New York Fashion Week in a show at the Lincoln Center.
According to mailonline, they've seeing each other as much as they can since their first meeting in New York.
