Melbourne - Baggage handlers on a Qantas flight had a nasty surprise when they discovered a live crocodile at large in the cargo hold.
A spokesperson for Australia's Qantas airline confirmed that a crocodile managed to escape its container during a recent flight from Brisbane to Melbourne, Sky News reported.
Baggage handlers encountered the crocodile wandering round the cargo hold, but fortunately the croc was not a fully grown specimen, according to Gawker.
The animal only actually measured around 60cm in length, making it relatively easy to capture and return to its secure accommodation.
Qantas has launched an investigation to determine if the the crocodile had been loaded appropriately by the cargo firm responsible for its transit, Australian Air Express.
