Krispy Kreme will celebrate 'Talk like a Pirate Day' on Wednesday by giving free donuts to its customers who will come to its store and speak just like a pirate.
The Winston-Salem, North Carolina based doughnut chain will take part in the International Talk Like a Pirate Day, celebrated on September 19 every year. They will hand out one glazed donut to anyone who will come to their participating stores voicing out one of the famous pirate catch phrases.
The Consumerist lists the following pirate bywords a customer can say to the Krispy Kreme cashier: "Ahoy Matey, Heave Ho, Blow Me Down, Sea Dog, Landlubber, Thar She Blows, Yo Ho Ho."
USA Today also reports that if you will come in a full pirate gear, complete with eye patch, pirate hat, hoop earrings, striped bandana, and a parrot in your shoulder, you will be rewarded with a dozen glazed treats.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a holiday parody created by Mark Summers and John Baur in 1995. The Oregon duo proclaimed September 19 each year for everyone to mimic and speak like a pirate to romanticize the historical account of Golden Age of Piracy.
