'American Idol' season 11 third placer Joshua Ledet had to qualify his statement posted on his Twitter page Monday after a number of Facebook users in the Philippines expressed displeasure on his comment about his trip to the country.
In his Twitter post, Ledet said, "Not excited about this 18 hour flight to the Phillipines ehhh :/"
His statement caused a bit of an uproar from some Facebook users who were offended by his statement.
Obviously, Ledet is already aware of viewers' negative reaction to his statement. So while on his way to the Philippines he posted another statement saying he is excited about the Philippines but not the 18-hour flight from the U.S.
Ledet's subsequent statement says: "I'm excited about the Philippines Just not the flight! Don't take my last tweet the wrong way!"
This writer had to post Ledet's Twitter statement on Facebook to clarify his comment and to avoid possible negative reaction from local fans of the top 10 contestants and supporters of " American Idol.
American Idol is holding a one-night concert in the Philippines on Sept. 21 featuring the top 10 contestants from season 11 including Ledet, who placed third in the hotly contested singing talent competition.
Runner-up Jessica Sanchez, whose mother is from Bataan, Philippines is visiting her mother's home country for the first time.
Sanchez appears to be the most popular among the top contestants of season 11. She has appeared as guest performer in major sports and political events in the U.S. including her latest appearance on the National Democratic Convention in North Carolina last week.
The one-night concert dubbed "American Idol Live! Tour 2012" will take place on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. Read more.
The Manila concert is the first Asian concert tour of American Idol contestants after completing a 45-day tour across the U.S. mainland.
