Barely a week before the top winners of "American Idol" season 11 hit the Philippines, local fans of runner-up Jessica Sanchez have started preparations for a grand welcome of their idol whose mother comes from the Philippines.
The one-night concert dubbed "American Idol Live! Tour 2012" featuring the top 10 winners of the last season of American Idol, will take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 21.
The Manila concert is American Idol top winners' first Asian concert tour after completing a 45-day tour across the US mainland.
Aside from Sanchez, the Manila show will feature season 11 winner Philip Philips together with Joshua Ledet, DeAndre Brackensick, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Hee Jun Han, Skylar Laine, Colton Dixon and Hollie Cavanagh.
"The new singing celebrities are expected to perform some of the numbers they sang during the talent search, with Jessica drawing from her song list that includes, among others, Change Nothing, Sweet Dreams and I Will Always Love You. An on-line post of the tour’s repertoire indicates that Jessica has seven production numbers and three solo spots," Philstar.com writes.
Sanchez has just performed at the National Democratic Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday. She sang the Motown classic “You're All I Need To Get By” along with the God’s Appointed People Choir.
In her Twitter post, Sanchez said she was an honored to have been selected to perform for the major political event. t
“Thank you so much for having me @demconvention. It was an honor to perform tonight,” she said via ABS-CBN News.
The 17-year-old singing sensation has started recording her first album under Interscope Records, a recording company based in Sta.Monica, California.
Sanchez, whose mother is from Bataan province in the Philippines, is expected to visit her mother's hometown for the first time after the Manila show.
Gene Malibiran dela Fuente, Mayor of Samal town said,"Sanchez may fly in by chopper and stay for at least half a day on September 21," Philstar.com reports.
"It is still being arranged by Jessica's manager," Dela Fuente said.
