Rumor on the web was the new cookie would debut exclusively at Target stores on Sept. 10, but Digital Journal
noticed on various corners of the web that people were saying the Oreos had already been stocked on shelves in some areas.
So Digital Journal
decided to head on over to a local Target to confirm whether or not this new flavored cookies were on shelves. Sure enough, there was a whole display featuring the candy corn flavored Oreos.
had reported the suggested retail price was given as $3.59 for a package, but Digital Journal
found this price must vary depending on location. The cookies at a Fairfax County, Va. based Target are currently priced at $2.99.
This reporter pondered purchasing the cookies, even having walked up to register with cookies in hand, but to be honest, just couldn't do it. Candy corn is kind of repulsive on its own and one disguised as an Oreo cookie just wasn't appealing. By looking at the display, however, it appeared there must have been at least few takers.
Reaction on social media appears to be mixed, and then there are those who seem to be up in the air on the new cookie, having more of an open mind.
For instance, Twitter user @MattCB273
tweeted, "Candy corn flavored Oreos...initially repulsed, subsequently intrigued", and @Sultan_of_Stat
said, "Candy Corn Oreos sound awful and yet utterly appealing at the same time. Color me intrigued."
However, one individual did give it a whirl and posted a video on YouTube. Here's his reaction:
Currently, it appears this product is only available in the U.S. since the cookies seem to be exclusive to Target stores. Target stores are located in the U.S., but not for long. As Digital Journal reported this past summer
,Target will be expanding beyond U.S. borders into Canada commencing next year opening numerous locations.
Do candy corn flavored Oreos sound appealing to you? Would you buy them?
