'American Idol' runner-up Jessica Sanchez is set to perform on the second day of the Democratic National Convention to be held at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday
The 17-year old Filipino/Mexican-American singing sensation will perform with mixmaster DJ Cassidy and American saxophonist Branford Marsalis on Wednesday while Foo Fighters, Earth, Wind and Fire, Delta Rae, Inspire the Fire and Marc Anthony will perform on Thursday along with Grammy winners James Taylor and Mary J. Blige.
Before Wednesday's performance with Sanchez, Cassidy is also set to appear on the same venue Tuesday along with American singer-songwriter Ledisi and “Glee”’s Amber Riley.
In her Twitter post, Sanchez said she is excited to perform at the major political event in Charlotte, North Carolina
"I might not be old enough to vote, but I'm so honored and excited to perform at @BarackObama's big party in Charlotte next week!"
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who is the DNC National Chair, said (via wcnc.com) tens of thousands will attend the political event
"This roster of performances only adds to the excitement building in Charlotte for the historic week ahead of us," said DNC chair Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in a statement.
"The tens of thousands who will attend Convention events in person, and all those tuning in across the country, should be ready for quite a show."
Meanwhile Sanchez said (via her Twitter post) she's looking forward to her group concert featuring the top winners of American Idol season 11 which will be held in Manila on September 23.
"And.. I’m looking forward to Manila and cant wait to see everyone at the American Idol Live tour on September 23rd! #idoltour," Sanchez said
