This morning will start a long day for shopping mall attendants in New Jersey. A gunman has allegedly killed two people and then himself.
As reported by
4029 News, police have reportedly shot and killed a man wearing
body armor in
Old Bridge New Jersey.
The suspect was allegedly part of a shootout inside a shopping mall. As the New York Post
writes, the 23-year-old man left a Pathmark in Old Bridge Township around 3:30 a.m. and returned a half-hour later with a handgun and an AK-47 assault rifle, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said.
NBC News
reports store employees told authorities that when they saw the suspect returning with weapons, they locked the doors to the supermarket. "The gunman then shot out the windows and went inside and fired at least 16 shots at different places in the store, police said, killing two people. He then killed himself."
Law enforcement officials said the gunman was a former Marine and an Old Bridge resident, NBC News adds.
