Authorities in Russia decided that the Itchy & Scratchy show will be cut from The Simpsons when the show airs in the country.
According to RT, the censorship is dictated by a law that is aimed at protecting kids from information that could possibly damage their health as well as development.
According to The Moscow News, Lev Makarov is the channel director of the the station that airs The Simpsons, 2x2 TV,. Makarov said that under the new law they will no longer show the skit, and some episodes of The Simpsons will only be shown between 11pm and 4am.
According to AFP, the show 'South Park' will also be affected by the new law.All of the scenes that show character 'Kenny' getting killed will not be shown until after 11pm.
This is not the first time the channel has had issues with their cartoons. Back in 2008, 2x2 was charged with extremism when they aired a Christmas-themed episode of South Park. The charged were eventually dropped.
