article imageJon Voight at GOP convention: 'Media taken over by Democrats'

By Marcus Hondro     Aug 28, 2012 in Politics
Actor Jon Voight, supporter of Mitt Romney and the Republicans, is at the party's convention in Tampa and doing some talking...and complaining. Voight said that a strong suit of the Barack Obama and the Democrats is the ability to spout propaganda.
"How can people vote for Obama after four years of failed policies?" Voight asked. "You know, it's because of propaganda -- they're very good at propaganda. That's what we're battling here today." He added that the American media "has been overtaken by this administration."

Best known for films earlier in his career, such as 'Midnight Cowboy' and 'Deliverance,' and for being the father of the globe-trotting, baby-adopting and philanthropic actor Angelina Jolie, Voight does not pull punches when he talks about U.S. President Barack Obama and the Democrats. He says that he was a part of the liberal politics of Hollywood many years ago but has learned his lesson and feels "quite ashamed" of the views he once espoused.
While Hollywood has long been considered a bastion of liberalism, Voight is hardly the only one to come out in support of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Earlier during this campaign Clint Eastwood said he was a Romney and GOP supporter. Other entertainers supporting the GOP include singer and long-time conservative Alice Cooper. B-movie actor, also a mathematician apparently, Chuck Norris, has said Barack Obama "has broken or unfulfilled 324 campaign promises."
At the convention Tuesday, Voight was asked if he believes Barack Obama is a Marxist and, in so many words, he said he does believe Obama is a Marxists. He did not name any specific policies of the current U.S. administration that he considers to be Marxists policies.
