Celeb Poker and Titan Poker, two sites on the iPoker network, are to merge; in practice, this means Celeb will disappear and players' accounts will be transferred to Titan.
The iPoker network is said now to be the second largest on-line poker network, having overtaken Party Poker, it is eclipsed only by PokerStars.
An e-mail sent out to Celeb players yesterday says:
"You're in for a whole new poker experience!
In relation to iPoker's intention to divide the network in two, we are hereby informing you that we have decided to merge with Titan Poker in the coming days. As a Titan Poker player you will receive a 200% up to $2,000 Welcome Bonus,* a gift usually reserved for new players only!
As a result of the impending merge, your CelebPoker account will be moved over to Titan Poker and any current funds will all be transferred. Your username, nickname and password will remain the same.
Thank you for playing with CelebPoker. It has been a pleasure to serve you and we wish you luck at the tables in the future."
In spite of this announcement to players, the merge/closure was no secret.
As will be seen from the linked report, the sites are actually sugar coating the pill. William Hill is also on iPoker; previously it was on the Cryptologic Network, which is now, sadly, gone.
Recently, Hollywood Poker was merged with RedKings. It remains to be seen what is the real cause of these mergers and closures, and if there will be anymore in the near future.
