Who would have thought that being an attentive waitress could be life threatening. A Red Lobster waitress found out the hard way, being attacked by three women after filling their water glass.
It seemed like a typical day at work for a Red Lobster waitress, taking orders, serving food and refilling drinks. It was the latter activity that resulted in a violent assault by three female customers.
According to the Huffington Post, the women allegedly threw the water she had just poured at the waitress and began striking her with their hands and a menu. A diner at the restaurant who witnessed the attack, said the women were upset because the waitress was filling their glasses too often. She also stated they threw a glass at the waitress, hitting her in the back of the head. When she turned around to see what had happened, they began repeatedly hitting her in the face.
According to a press release issued by the Fairview Heights Police Dept. the details of the incident are as follows:
"On August 17th, 2012, at approximately 2:15pm, officers responded to Red Lobster, 110 Ludwig Drive, Fairview Heights, Illinois for a report that an employee was being battered by customers in the dining area.
Upon officer’s arrival, three suspects were taken into custody. Preliminary accounts show that the customers had water thrown onto the employee and struck her several times with either open hands or a menu. It has not yet been determined what prompted the dispute.The victim was checked by an ambulance that was called to the scene by the responding officers. She refused further medical treatment and returned to work."
On August 18th the three suspects, Sharrell A Evans, a twenty-one year-old, Britley L Green, a twenty-two year-old, and Geneen L Green, a forty-four year-old, had their cases presented to the St Clair County State Attorney's Office. Investigators are seeking charges for all 3 suspects. They each were originally charged with felonies; Mob Action and Aggravated Battery in a Public Place.
Bond was set at $50,000 each and they remain in custody at the Fairview Heights Police Department pending arraignment.
