A man walking his dog in a Spring Hill neighborhood street got the scare of his life when Patrick Murphy, 19, fired his favorite toy, a 12-gauge shotgun, as he drove past in his car. Murphy told the police that he fired the gun to impress his girlfriend.
According to Springhill's WTSP-TV, Murphy confessed he fired the gun after officers tracked down his jeep to his home in 1100 block of Exmore Street. Officers searched inside Murphy's Jeep and found four unused Winchester shotgun shells and a 12-gauge shotgun on the floor of the car's front passenger seat.
According to WTSP-TV, Murphy said he was driving the Jeep with his girlfriend and two other persons, when he fired the gun at the junction of Exmore Sreet and Cavern Road. Officers say they found the used casing from the shotgun at the intersection.
Murphy and his girlfriend claimed they did not know that a person was walking a dog in the vicinity at the time. But police arrested and charged Murphy with discharging a firearm in public.
MSN Now describes the 19-year-old's action as the "fresh new face for moronic behavior," and hopes that the gun blast succeeded in wooing in the girl because "it could be a while before he gets another shot" at wooing her.
