Op-Ed: 'Bocephus' opens his mouth, spews Iowa crowd with racist filth

Des Moines - As a writer, we've never really felt the need to apologize for all White people on behalf of an idiot. We've always felt that people are responsible for their own stupidity and that as a race, nobody should be held responsible for the actions of one.

Still, what Hank Williams, Jr. did at the Iowa State Fair Friday night does tempt one to feel real bad about others thinking, however incorrectly, that we all might be like that. Even worse, he did it in our home state. And our fellow Iowans, from what we were told, cheered the racist spew with enthusiasm. Talking Points Memo reports: Country music singer and incendiary conservative Hank Williams, Jr. is once again saying controversial things about President Obama. Des Moines Register reporter Joe Lawler writes Williams told a crowd at the Iowa State Fair Friday that the president isn't a Christian and that he "hates" America. "We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the US and we hate him!” Williams yelled to the crowd. The line was met with "loud and enthusiastic" cheers, Lawler writes. It's bad enough that a no-talent, racist hack who made a living off of his dead father's name is taken seriously by anyone. It's even worse that a crowd of our fellow Hawkeyes would cheer his racist, ignorant, Islamaphobic crap. After getting fired from Monday Night Football last year for saying much of the same thing on Fox News (of all places), this idiot recorded a song about Obama turning America into the "United Soviet States of America." We'd rather recall the purty little song we recorded last October when we think of this useless waste of oxygen.
