A six-year-old giant panda, Sixue, gave birth to twin panda cubs, a male and a female, in China's southern Sichuan province, and it was all caught on video.
The Telegraph reports that the female cub was born just before 11pm on Wednesday and then 25 minutes later, her twin brother was born.
The video shows Sixue holding both baby cubs in her mouth as soon as they were born, each weighing 5.4 ounces.
But
The Telegraph quotes CCTV in China saying that soon after the birth, Sixue had to abandon her second baby because a giant panda mother can not look after both cubs at the same time.
Researchers at the Wolong Giant Panda Wild Breeding Center sent the male baby to the Bifengxia Panda Base in nearby Ya'an city for to be nursed artificially or to find a foster mother for him.
