A five-year-old boy escaped miraculously with minor injuries after he fell three floors from an escalator handrail in a Novosibirsk shopping mall in southern Russia.
According to LifeNews, the five-year-old boy is Ilya. He came to the shopping mall with his mother 37-year-old Tatiana M. and his sister 15-year-old Olesya. Ilya was left only very briefly without supervision when he decided to imitate the movie action of his favorite hero Batman.
A CCTV camera captured Ilya climbing onto the handrail of the escalator. The video shows his sister and mother trying to stop him, but he slips through a space at the side of the escalator and falls from the third floor, a height of 12 meters.
A second CCTV camera captured him hitting concrete at the ground floor, heavily.
A woman who looks back and sees the boy as he hits the concrete is shocked. She looks away and covers her face. The Sun reports she is pregnant. A man runs to the boy and picks him up. He places him on a table. Other people hesitate at first, but several people soon gather around the table.
Ninemsn reports the boy escaped with no serious injuries.
Judging from the appearance of the hard impact the boy sustained, it is amazing he escaped unhurt, The Sun comments.
