By Richard Milnes     Aug 17, 2012 in Politics
Sydney - Malcolm Turnbull MP and Liberal candidates Edward Mandla, Christine Forster (sister of Australian Liberal Party leader Tony Abbott) and Sean O’Connor launched their policy for the City of Sydney.
The news conference took place at 11:30am today in the street at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst, in the heart of Sydney’s LGBTQI district. The Liberal Party candidates pointed out the large number of buildings that have 'For Lease’ signs outside, along Oxford Street.
The Liberals' four key initiatives are to:
1) Cut Sydney Council rates by 10% for residents and businesses, then freezing them for three years.
2) Reduce Council operating costs by a net 5%.
3) Reduce capital spending by $250 million.
4) Immediately commence a Commission of Audit into Council spending.
The Australian Liberal Party is generally considered to be a party of the centre right.
