An AP photo that Internet meme creators say shows President Barack Obama revealing his secret crystal-ball-gazing wizardry skills has gone viral, generating a new Internet "Wizard Obama" meme.
The original version of the photo by
AP's Carolyn Kaster was not Photoshopped. It shows Obama addressing supporters during a campaign event at Bayliss Park on Monday, August 13, in Council Bluffs, during a three-day campaign bus tour through the state of Iowa. The photo shows the Sun in the background, and Obama appears to be holding the solar-orb in his fingers like Hogwarts wizard Professor Dumbledore looking into a crystal ball to cast a binding spell on his enthralled dumb-muggle audience.
