Three people have died of gun shot wounds and five have been wounding in a shooting incident in the city of College Station, Texas.
Reports from BBC and Khou report that a civilian and the gunman are dead after the latter opened fire near the Texas A&M campus.
Officers arriving at the scene fired at the suspect before taking him into custody, where he was pronounced dead.
Constable Brian Bachmann has died from gunshot wounds. He was the first to arrive at the scene.
A witness has informed KHOU 11 News in a phone call that the gunman fought it out with the police in a gunfight for several minutes.
The shooting occurred at 12:45 local time, a motive has not yet been established.
