A statement released from Mission Hospital, Asheville and The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said that, when he was admitted into hospital, he was in good spirits and alert. Last November, Billy Graham, who is 93 years old, was admitted into hospital for the same condition. Since then, Graham has stayed in good health, though he stays mainly at home, due to age related illness.
A spokesman for Billy Graham, A. Larry Ross said, via Twitter, that Graham had a slight fever and bronchitis on Saturday night. Medical staff are treating Graham with oral antibiotics and he is improving.
At one point on Sunday, Graham tuned in to watch his grandson, Will Graham, give a guest sermon at First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Graham has also been chatting to the nurses and lunched with his daughter, Gigi, and one of his grandchildren at the hospital.
Doctors are happy with Graham's progress, who has been alert all day. He has been eating meals and sitting up in bed. Graham is in good hands and feels safe at the Mission hospital, where he has received previous treatment. It is thought that Graham will need to be in hospital for another few days, but no date has been set for his discharge.
Graham has been an inspiration for millions of individuals and has preached for over six decades. He started missionary work in 1944 when he began preaching for the Youth for Christ Campus Life ministry. Five years later, he was preaching in tents, in downtown Los Angeles. Due to the success of crusades in tents that were originally scheduled for just three weeks, they were extended to seven. Graham has provided counsel to generations of Americans, including Harry S. Truman, reports CNN
Graham received hospital treatment for a similar condition in November and afterwards carried out his ongoing plan of physical therapy and normal activity, shortly after his release. Graham is the most popular and well known American preacher of the 20th century. He travelled all over the world and acted as confidant to a dozen presidents, reports USnews.nbcnews.com
. Obama even visited Billy Graham at his home, in North Carolina, in 2010.
Currently, Billy Graham is in a stable condition and recovering quickly. Graham's infection is responding well to oral antibiotics. He is even working on a book that he hopes to release soon, according to Foxnews.com
