Leeming Bar - R&R Ice Cream, one of the top-class ice cream manufacturers of UK, acquires ground in Italian food business. R&R ice cream holds licences to produce varied brands including Nestle.
R&R Ice Cream at the Leeming Bar, employs more than 400 people and produces more than 500 million lollies each and every year. There is always a competition for R&R Ice Cream in the England Super markets with major competitors include Asda stores Ltd. and Tesco. The company which was once known as Richmond foods until May 2006, was purchased by Oak-tree management with an aim to collaborate with Roncadin of Germany. Hence the famous R&R Ice Cream was brought into limelight.
R&R Ice cream CEO, James Lambert said,""an immediate and major presence in Europe’s largest ice cream market."
It includes 3 Nestle products that are highly demanding worldwide and they are Fab, Toffee crisp and Rolo. 5 fruits-flavored Patille ice lollipops of Rowntree brand, healthy ice cream treats by skinny cow brand and Cornish Ice creams are then most popularly purchased R&R products. As of the year 2010, R&R Ice Cream is placed in the second position of Europe's largest ice cream groups list.
Now, its acquisition over Italy's Eskigel will enhance the popularity of R&R Ice creams even more. Eskigel was first found in 1952 and ever since then, it is the leading ice cream company in Italy. Eskigel produced Lollies, tubs, ice cream sticks, Cubes, cones, Sandwich creams and mini-cups. Hence Eskigel's acquisition is looked upon anxiously now among the other European own-label manufacturers of ice creams.
R&R Ice cream had already strengthened its position in UK, Germany and France. And now, its all ready to get good reviews from Italy. James Lambert also expressed," I am delighted to strengthen our business in France with the acquisition of Pilpa and the strong brands it brings to R&R. Our French sales are now at a similar level to Germany and the UK and we are ideally placed to benefit from the opportunities for further consolidation of the European ice cream sector."
Last year, R&R was awarded "Manufacturer of the year" industry award for its wonderful products. The R&R training director, Peter Pickthall told, "This is a tremendous achievement of which everyone at R&R can justifiably feel proud. These awards are highly-prized and attract entries from the UK's top food manufacturing firms so it is very rewarding to be judged No 1 in our sector."
