Toronto - On Thursday members of Toronto Police's Drug Squad were in the area of 40 Fountainhead Road working a drug investigation when they saw two vehicles pull into a parking lot.
By the end of the day the officers had taken down three criminals, one of which is charged with gun trafficking.
Drug Squad Detective Andy Sawyer said during a phone interview that one of the men involved was observed leaving a vehicle and entering the second vehicle. The accused is alleged to have then left that vehicle to enter the apartment building at 40 Fountainhead Road. Shortly after the suspect left the building with a bag and reentered the second vehicle. After a short time he left the vehicle without the bag.
While the arrest was not drug related Detective Sawyer said that drugs and guns go hand in hand.
Constable Tony Vella said during a phone interview that at least two of the men arrested are known to police.
Abadir Jimale, 28, of no fixed address has been charged with trafficking in firearms, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of unregistered restricted weapon, careless storage of a firearm, restricted weapon: occupant of motor vehicle, possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
Devon Brumble, 19, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of an unregistered restricted weapon, careless storage of a firearm, restricted weapon: occupant of motor vehicle, possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Tyson Shuffler, 24, of Toronto has been charged with possession of an unregistered restricted weapon, careless storage of a firearm, restricted weapon: occupant of motor vehicle, possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
