article imageGOP snubs Ron Paul for the RNC, supporters react

By Emma Burge     Aug 10, 2012 in Politics
In recent correspondence with Paul Festival organizer Tracy Diaz, I learned that even though it seems as that the RNC is grasping at straws to find speakers, they have officially decided not to grant a slot to Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.
Over the past week or so, the GOP has announced speakers for the Republican National Convention that include guests as nationally unknown as Florida’s Attorney General and the Governor of Puerto Rico. With these choices, many are wondering why the GOP is still choosing to ignore what popular blogger Jack hunter calls "Ron Paul and his very large, vocal and influential movement". Because of this exclusion of Ron Paul and his base, organizers of the independently ran Paul Festival in Tampa Florida, are now offering buy one get one free tickets.
In addition to Paul Fest’s response, there will be an increased presence of Ron Paul supporters surrounding the convention; quite literally as a matter of fact. Shortly after Paul Festival, there is a Veterans for Ron Paul March on the RNC that is expecting an excess of 800 participants. On August 26th, Ron Paul will be hosting his own event as well at the USF Sun Dome where tickets are absolutely free. It seems that even means of travel are becoming “Ron Paul Revolution-ized”. Thousands of supporters from all around the country are taking Ronvoy bus rides, Rides for Ron Paul car pools, and even Motorcycle Rides for Ron Paul.
It is unsure exactly how many people will be attending these events in total, but more information will be coming soon. I will be attending Paul Festival with a press pass and will write a first hand account of what the calls “A Conservative Woodstock”.
