A Texas man Ernesto Garza, 80, says he saw the face of Jesus on his half-eaten breakfast taco. Garza is so excited at the revelation of God on bacon and egg taco that he is hoping to figure out how to preserve it, frame it and hang on his wall.
KTVB.com reports Garza attends La Amistad Adult Daycare in Beeville. He went to the cafeteria on Wednesday morning for his regular bacon and egg breakfast taco, hand made by cooks. According to KRISTV, a young girl served him breakfast. He said: "I wasn't looking for nothing, I was looking to eat my tortilla."
Garza sat down and unwrapped his taco. But after he had eaten a little of it, he suddenly noticed a human face on the taco staring at him. According to KTVB.com, Garza said: "I looked at it for five minutes," and it was Jesus staring at him from the burnt section of the taco.
To confirm his suspicion that Jesus had indeed appeared to him on his bacon and egg taco, he asked a friend sitting next to him to have a look and say what she thought the face on the tortilla looked like. His friend took one look and jumped to her feet, crying "Jesus!"
Now Garza was sure that a miracle had just happened. He told KRISTV: "I seen that brown spot there on the tortilla and it's a picture." He pointed out the parts of the face to KRISTV.com, saying: "Here's the eyes, nose, mouth, mustache." News about the Jesus tortilla spread around the adult daycare immediately.
The director of the adult daycare Angie Rodriguez, said in excitement: “I consider it a blessing because it’s unique."
The whole world is learning about the miracle at the La Amistad Adult Daycare in Beeville, a small city between Corpus Christie and San Antonio.
Rodriguez said the phone at the daycare is ringing ceaseless as media outlets call to make inquires about the Jesus tortilla. Rodriguez feels touched by God. She said she has been going through difficult times lately and had asked God for a sign the night before. She said: “We believe God works in mysterious ways."
Garza's sighting of Jesus' face on a taco is another in a string of similar incidents in recent times. According to the Daily Mail, last month, the owner of a Chinese takeout restaurant saw Jesus' face in the dirty, peeling paint on the side of his building in Sunderland, northeast England. In March, another person saw Jesus on a half plastered wall in North Yorkshire, England. Jesus was also recently spotted on a sneezed-in tissue, the Daily Mail reports.
Garza said the Jesus tortilla has caused other miracles in his life. He is now in touch with some long lost family members. He said: "I talked to 3 of them that I haven't talked to in a long time. That's another miracle."
Garza plans to preserve his Jesus tortilla for as long as possible. He said: “It’s a blessing from God." The Daily Mail reports he keeps the half-eaten taco wrapped in foil at the back of his refrigerator and shows it to anyone who asks to see the miracle of Jesus' face on a taco.
Garza said he was not surprised that the miracle happened at La Amistad where the motto is "serving humanity to honor God." He told KRISTV: "I want people to see what happens at La Amistad. This is a good place here, it's a very good place for old people and all the people here are very nice."
Garza is hoping to figure out how to preserve his Jesus tortilla so he can frame it to hang on his wall.
