By Darren Weir     Aug 8, 2012 in Crime
Toronto - A shocking video of a young man apparently urinating on a sleeping homeless man outside Toronto's Eaton Centre has got the attention of Toronto Police.
The video, titled "Real Or Fake? Cold-Hearted Thug Urinates On Sleeping Homeless Man In Downtown Toronto!", has gone viral since it was uploaded to the website World Star Hip-Hop yesterday. In less than 24 hours it has been viewed almost 175,000 times.
The video that lasts 27-seconds shows a young man approaching a man sleeping on the sidewalk outside what appears to be Toronto's Eaton Centre. With his back to the camera he appears to urinate on the sleeping man while his friends can be heard laughing off-camera. The victim doesn't react and appears to remain asleep as his head and hair are soaked.
The Toronto Sun says the video has received numerous comments, some questioning its authenticity. “Sounded like he was squeezing a bottle of water if you listen closely,” posted sida ben. Others are just disgusted by the incident, “Don’t see how this is funny in any way, shape, or form. This is just incredibly sad, hopefully karma gets to him.”DMVOriginal posted. And TTFN writes, "What a piece of human garbage.”
CBC says Toronto police are investigating and say the act constitutes an assault.
CTV reports Toronto Police spokesman Const. Tony Vella says police weren't aware of the video until media began reporting on it. He says he's not certain where the incident happened, and even if it is Toronto.
CBC says another video last year on the same website showed three teenage girls attacking a 35-year old woman near Yonge and Dundas streets, punching and kicking her as she curled up on the ground. Three teens were arrested a short time after the video was posted online.
