A real-money gambling app has just been launched on the world's largest social networking website, Facebook. This is a first for Facebook.
The Bingo Friendzy app was created by Gamesys, a London-based online gambling operator. The app allows people who are over the age of 18 to play games for money.
According to the BBC, only UK members will be able to check out the new app.
According to PC World, Bingo Friendzy will allow people to play around 90 Ball Bingo games and Slots games.
Julien Codorniou, Facebook's head of EMEA Gaming Partnerships, said that in the UK real money gaming is a very popular leisure activity. Codorniou went onto say that people love to play new types of games on Facebook and they like playing games with their Facebook friends.
According to PC Magazine, Facebook and Gamesys have taken steps to prevent under aged gambling. Before users can play they will have to verify their identity as well as proving they are in the UK. Users' will also have activity from Bingo & Slots Friendzy games appear on their profiles but Facebook has technology that will prevent those posts from appearing in feeds of users are not not 18 or older. Users outside of the UK will also not be able to view the posts.
Facebook has no plans, as of now, to expand into other real-money gambling ventures into other markets.
