Watch 90-year-old Dr. William Bell set the unofficial world record for his age group in pole vaulting, and take some time off for sober reflection.
Dr. Bell is the father of Earl Bell, a former Olympic medalist who won silver medal in pole vaulting at the 1984 Olympic games.
Total Sports reports that Dr. Bell's son Earl Bell, is today one of the top American pole vaulting coaches. He operates a training facility in Bono, Arkansas where he has trained Olympians Derek Miles and Jeff Hartwig. 90-year-old Bell, according to
Sportsgrid, still trains three times a week in his son's gym.
MSN Now reports that although Grandpa Bell has reduced his pole vaulting height by 2 ft since he was 80, he is still outperforming most of us who are decades younger. One YouTube commenter wonders in awe: "How many people ALIVE in his age group?"
Hope watching this old man clear a height of 7ft. 2 inches will make many of us couch potatoes sit up.
