Wollongong - ‘Stand Up! Stand together. Don’t be a bystander’ is the message in an anti-bullying video inspired and performed by a group of Australian schoolchildren who have experienced bullying themselves.
The soundtrack on the video is ‘Fix You’ by one of the world’s best-selling bands, Coldplay, who have given permission to use their song, for the first time.
Radio announcer, Neil Mitchell, described the video as “marvellous” and “powerful”.
The video offers solutions to help stop bullying by not being a bystander to what is happening.
One of the school children, interviewed on A Current Affair says, “ We’re kind of trying to get across the point for people to stand up, not stand by”.
It is hoped that the video will eventually be seen by all public schools in the country.
The Illawarra Mercury reports that staff and students at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Corpus Christi Catholic High School and St Joseph’s College (all located in Wollongong, about 85 kms south of Sydney) made the video.
