A mother in California was reaching for her third Jolly Rancher but when she reached into the bag she discovered a rusty blade.
Amy Hu said that the rusty blade was caked with candy colored residue. Hu said that when she discovered it she was surprised that there was a knife inside her bag of candy.
According to ABC, Hu said that the Jolly Rancher bag was sealed completely when she bought it from a local grocery store. After she discovered the blade she contacted the police as well as the Hershey Company because they manufacture Jolly Rancher products.
According to Huffington Post, Hi said that after she made her complaint she was offered three bags of candy to replace the bag of candy that contained the blade. However Hu said that she is a mother of a 1 and 5-year-old since she is a parent she is not seeking compensation. She said she would rather receive assurance that the candy is actually safe.
According to Fox, Hershey has not issued a recall but they did release a statement. The company said that the incident was an accident and it was an isolated case.
The wrapper suggests that the candy was manufactured in Brazil. When Hershey was contacted on Friday the company did not immediately return a phone message.
