The National Tree Day event at Federal Park, Jubilee Park and Harold Park on the Glebe foreshore was attended by the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore.
In Glebe (situated about 3kms west of the city centre), 4,500 native plants and shrubs were to be planted along the new pathway to Johnston’s Canal. Clover Moore helped in planting a ‘brush box’ tree.
The event took place on Sunday, 29 July. National Tree Day is held in July, as it is generally the best time to plant Australia wide.
Planet Ark organizes the event in association with Toyota.
In 2011 over 1 million trees, shrubs and grasses were planted.
