The Butterfly World Project is located near St Albans, in the county of Hertfordshire in the UK.
The center collects and breeds butterflies from the tropics and from the UK. The aim, especially with the UK species, is conservation. Of the 54 resident butterfly species in the UK, (there are four regular migrant species also), seven out of ten are in decline.

The key attraction is the tropical center, which has between 500-800 butterflies, from 15-20 species.
Here are a selection of the images I took:
One of the many species of tropical butterfly
It was good to be able to get so close, this butterfly has landed on the back of one of the visitors.
The butterflies are bred in the rainforests around the world in farms either owned or supported by The Stratford Upon Avon Butterfly Farm.
It was good to be able to get so close to these amazing creatures
Butterfly World also contains a number of other insects. These are not as pretty as the butterflies but no less interesting.
A collection of Creepy Crawly Insects
The attraction also has many interesting themed gardens.
