The Fame Monster took a big step to becoming more famous this past week with a foray into film acting. Lady Gaga's had bit parts and made long-ish music videos, but only now filmed a role in a bona-fide Hollywood movie. And it sounds a good one.
The film is 'Machete Kills', a second installment in the 'Machete' franchise from director Robert Rodriguez ('Sin City'). It's an action picture, the forte of Rodriguez, and clearly he's happy with the work Gaga did in playing La Chameleon (who better to play a chameleon, no?).
"I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills," the director tweeted on July 26th. "Holy Smokes. Blown away!" Gaga herself has a tweet to share about her experience: "I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane."
Lady Gaga with Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen
There is a rather involved plot, naturally, but not wanting to spoil it for fans who intend to see it, other than to say there's an assassination attempt, a drug lord and a double cross, we'll leave that out here. With Rodriguez it's more about the trip than where you're going.
Lady Gaga will be sharing the screen with the likes of Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba and Cuba Gooding Jr.. Filming is ongoing, though it appears Gaga's done shooting, and no release date has been announced yet.
