Sevenoaks - Dancing British bobby on the beat, shows off his moves to entertain the crowd waiting for the Olympic torch to makes its way through Sevenoaks in Kent.
In the video, filmed on Friday, 20 July, on day 63 of the nationwide relay, a motorcycle police officer, wearing his crash helmet can be seen doing some breakdancing type moves as the crowd cheers and applauds him.
According to ‘Michelleylouise’ - one of those who uploaded a YouTube video of the incident, his name was Matt and he was persuaded to entertain the crowd by some crowd entertainers armed with a microphone and box of party tunes.
Sevenoaks People reports that the officer’s moves “were a perfect example of the carnival party atmosphere enjoyed by thousands of people who lined the streets as the Torch Relay made its way from Seal through Bat and Ball, Sevenoaks town, Tubs Hill, Riverhead and Bessels Green.”
Kent News reports that PC Matt Townsend said, “I entered into the spirit of the event and I am delighted the crowd enjoyed it so much.”
Dan Green, a commenter on Heart 96-107, believed that it was the same PC that did a sillier dance at Bourne.
