Wikileaks has recently released a series of emails from global intelligence agency Stratfor; what is contained in several of these emails though may make a serious impact on the upcoming presidential election.
Stratfor is a global intelligence agency headquartered in Austin, Texas. The emails (titled the GI Files) released by Wikileaks reveal Stratfor’s Vice President Fred Burton speaking about matters ranging from a secret indictment of Julian Assange to National Security. One particular correspondence tells of a terror plot by al Qaeda that was foiled in 2010 targeting a financial institution, an entertainment center, and a government office in Los Angeles. This plot if not foiled could have resulted in another 9/11 like crisis with thousands of lives lost. The email regarding the plot was marked “The matter is very dicey. Pls don’t pass this around. Thanks”. The question is, even if this was a “dicey” situation at the time, why has government not informed us of this scheme almost two years later?
According to the email, the NSC (National Security Council) refused disclosure of the plot because of the election. “Gotta love it. I’ll know more tomorrow.”, said Burton in the email, regarding the refused disclosure due to the election. With the Fast & Furious scandal still on the Obama administration’s heels, one can only imagine how they will respond to this new dishonorable withhold of information by the NSC for fear that it would affect Obama’s chances at a second term.
