W. Virginia man allegedly fathered 3 children with teen daughter

A West Virginia man has been arrested and charged with fathering three children with his own daughter, who was only 14 when she gave birth to the first baby.

WOWKTV reports that 56-year-old Charles Shamblin Jr. of Kanawha County was arraigned on Monday on incest, sexual abuse and sexual assault charges. West Virginia State Police claim that Shamblin abused his daughter for more than 10 years. The results of DNA testing indicated that he was the father of his three grandchildren. The Daily Mail reports that Shamblin allegedly began abusing his daughter, who is now 35, when she was just seven years old. The alleged sexual abuse continued until she was 20. When she was 14, she gave birth to the first of his three children. The other two children were born when the victim was 19 and 20. Shamblin's daughter-in-law told WOWKTV that members of their community knew about the incestuous abuse but "looked the other way." "They knew what was going on," the unnamed woman said. "They've seen the bruises, they've seen the marks on the children and on their mother and they looked the other direction." The daughter-in-law also says that the alleged victim "completely denied" being sexually abused years ago. "The state, the prosecuting attorney and the deputy said they couldn't do nothing," she told WOWKTV.
