Astronomers at the University of California and the Carnegie Institution of Washington have discovered a new planet that is located right by Earth. The planet may actually be able to support human life
Lead researcher Professor Steven Vogt said that the planet is not just in their backyard but it is right in their faces.
According Perth Now, Vogt has named the planet Zarmina's world, after his wife. It is located 22 light years away.
According to Times Of India, a study was released and it showed that the planet is double the size of Earth, and it is known as a super Earth because it has the ability hold onto its gassy atmosphere. This increases the planet's chances of retaining liquid.
Researchers cannot say for sure whether or not the liquid is flowing freely across the planet or if it is stored under the planet's surface.
According to Indian Express, the planet has weather similar to Australia. Vogt explained that temperatures seem to be just right for someone to stand on the surface and feel the warmth. He compared it to standing in a park in Sydney.
Vogt stated that he believes that there is something out there, referring to civilization on other planets.
