Absolutely Fabulous fans are anxious for the start of the Olympics, but not necessarily for the athletic events. Instead it will be a chance to see their favorite characters back again.
As part of the British comedy series 20th anniversary the cast has teamed up again for three new specials. The final episode, and most anticipated, airs next week titled the Absolutely Fabulous London 2012 special. Creator Jennifer Saunders is back as PR guru Edina Monsoon and her drugged up, sex crazed friend Patsy Stone, played by Joanna Lumley star in the 30 minute episodes. Promotional ads have popped up on YouTube to give fans a sneak peek at what's in store.
Digital Spy quotes Saunders, "It's great that we are able to celebrate our 20th birthday with all the original cast. Like a good bottle of champagne we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle."
But that's not all fans have to look forward to. A link has been posted on Saunders' Facebook fan page that hints at her role in the Olympic Games Closing Ceremonies. The Daily Mail says while the program is actually a tightly guarded secret, it seems the AbFab star and co-creator Dawn French will join Russell Brand on stage, dressed in full punk gear, for a comedy version of the Sex Pistols’ song Pretty Vacant. It's sure to be something never before seen at an Olympic's Closing Ceremony.
