‘Occupy Sydney’ movement still has a presence in Martin Place in Sydney’s central business district (CBD) and has opened a small library.
According to the Occupy Sydney
website, they have been ‘occupying’ Martin Place, Sydney since Saturday, 15 October 2011 (just over nine months).
At the time of Digital Journal’s visit on Wednesday, 18 July 2012, at around 1pm, one person was manning the stall. He gave a Digital Journal a leaflet entitled ‘Your Rights to Photograph/Film/Record Sound in a Public Place’, which contained information about the law in Australia - where you can and can’t photograph, etc.
The occupy set up had relocated perhaps fifty metres from its previous location on Digital Journal’s last visit on
14 May 2012.
Various information leaflets were now available. A small free library had also been started.
