The Toronto Blue Jays suffered another crushing blow this afternoon in their game against the New York Yankees losing star third baseman Brett Lawrie to a right calf injury.
The injury occurred on foul ball by Yankees first baseman
Mark Teixeira that drifted into the third base line camera bay.
Lawrie gave chase and was stretching out to catch the ball when he flipped over the railing falling into the camera bay and striking his right leg on a railing inside the bay.
Lawrie was able to get to his feet but was clearly in pain as he was taken to the clubhouse for further examination.
X-Rays were taken of Lawrie's leg revealing no structural damage and the Blue Jays have listed Lawrie as
day-to-day with a right calf bruise.
The injury comes just two days after Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista left a game with a wrist injury forcing the Jays to place him on the 15 day disabled list.
