Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz will be taking some time off but will probably not be put on the disabled list following positive results from an MRI.
Ortiz did not rupture or tear his Achilles' tendon when he injured himself in eight inning in Monday night's game.
According to, Ortiz received treatment Monday night after the injury took place, and he went for an MRI on Tuesday. Ortiz said that he will probably be out for a week. Ortiz will be going to Miami on Wednesday to get a second opinion.
Ortiz's injury happened when he was circling the bases on the home run his teammate made, according to ESPN.
According to Boston Globe, Ortiz said that he has dealt with heel bursitis last year but this time around it was very different, even though the injury occurred in the same area.
Ortiz said that the first thing he thought about last night was that he didn't feel it pop. He went onto say that he never feared that his season with the Red Sox was over with.
