Lily Allen has been involved in another social media row with a Scottish Soldier. The soldier is under investigation following alleged racist comments.
According to The Scottish Sun, a soldier has upset Lily Allen in a Twitter race row. Allen has forgiven the squaddie after he sent her some flowers. Allen felt that the comment was racist, but family of the squaddie insist that he is NOT racist.
Lily Allen requested that the sniper, Harry Wilson, be disciplined for commenting about her buying an African baby.
The 21 year old, lance cororal from Stranraer was told to see top brass, due to fears that he would be told to leave the Army. It was a very worrying time for the lance corporal. It's not something that any person in the army wants to experience.
Lily Allen, 27, decided to accept the Scots soldier's apology. Allen remarked on Twitter that she had received some beautiful flowers and a hand written note of apology from Harry Wilson. Allen wants to move on from the whole situation now and is urging fans to do the same.
Wilson caused the row when he wrote a message to the pregnant, Lily Allen. In the message he said, “All the best with your new family just see you bought s*** I meant adopted a child from Africa #hero.”
Mother of one, Lily Allen reported Wilson to army officials over Twitter, saying: “Do you condone @harrywil2010 racist comments? He needs disciplining.”
Wilson's family and friends said that the message was not meant in a racist way. However, it was misunderstood due to poor punctuation.
Wilson's sister Michelle, 25 spoke of how she wanted a line drawn under the row. She said that she hoped Allen could forgive her brother for the misunderstanding. Michelle said that, “It’s good that she has accepted his apology and isn’t dragging this on because it was just a mix-up."
Unfortunately Wilson's career is still at risk, even though the row has been forgiven and Lily Allen wants to move on from it. The family have not been able to hear from Wilson about his career yet.
Wilson joined the forces three years ago and serves the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Wilson has worked in Afghanistan and Kenya. He is returning to Afghanistan in September, if he doesn't lose his position in the army. However, if he is found guilty of the racist remark he could face being kicked out of the army.
According to Sky News The Ministry of Defence were dragged into the social media row after Allen flagged the tweet that was sent to her from the man claiming to be a soldier. At the time, Allen did not know whether the man was serving in the army or not. However, he did inform her that he was a soldier.
Allen uses Twitter a lot under her married name @lilyrosecooper, once she received the Tweet she reported it to the MoD.
Other Twitter users targeted Allen and sent her hurtful tweets. This is not the first time, the singer has been involved in online spats. There have been many disputes in the past. In 2011 she used the micro-blogging website to abuse Piers Morgan's offer of appearing on "Life Stories". She has also fallen out with Cheryl Cole online.
Yahoo News reports that, Lily Allen who has previously miscarried twice, sent the tweet to the MoD. Lance Cpl Wilson's page has now been removed from Twitter as investigations pursue. Wilson's family insist that there was a comma missing in the message, which is why it read so negatively.
Wilson's aunt, Shirley Allison, informed the Scottish Sun that there is no way her nephew is racist.
A spokesman speaking on behalf of the army said, "Anyone who falls short of the Army's high standards would have appropriate action taken against them.
"The British Army does not condone racism. An investigation is ongoing."
Allen posted on her Twitter account, in response to the abusive messages she received. "So let me get this straight it's 'he was just harassing you, not racially harassing you'. Ah, ok then."
She later said: "Ok I'm leaving twitter for a few days, hmmmm maybe hours, we'll see. The stupidity of some people on here is astounding."
