According to RT
, a TV crew member from the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk raced onto the field to catch footage of the football (soccer) players lining up as the national anthem commenced during the opening ceremony.
The cameraman, not wanting to miss the footage, trots onto the field as the music starts. He suddenly loses his balance and falls down, taking a pretty hard tumble.
As this unfolds during the playing of the Russian national anthem, some of the players
couldn't help smiling, while others either looked down or turned away from the camera.
In the meantime, when the cameraman couldn't get up on his own, assistance immediately arrived. Medics carried the unnamed man off the field on a stretcher.
The whole mishap was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube
on July 9. The video currently has over 400,000 views.
The fall occurred just prior to the onset of the Russian second division with a game between Yenisey Krasnoyarsk and the visiting team, Shinnik Yaroslavl. RT reports there is no word on the man's condition.
Just last month a cameraman fell over
landing beneath his camera at Wimbledon.
