Atlanta - The 11-year-old stepson of American R&B singer Usher is in critical condition after he was struck by a Jet Ski on Lake Lanier in Georgia.
Kyle Glover, whose mother is Usher's ex-wife Tameka, and a 15 year old girl were riding on inner tubes Friday when they were struck by a 38 year old man on a Jet-Ski. Atlanta's 11Alive News reports both Glover and the girl were airlifted to hospital. Atlanta Black Star reports the Georgia Department of Natural Resources which has launched an investigation into the accident doesn't believe alcohol was involved. DNR rangers pulled the 15 year old girl from the water and a nearby boater pulled the boy from the water. WSB News reports the girl suffered a broken arm and a laceration on her head, while Glover suffered critical head injuries. KNR Newsradio quotes DNR spokesman Sgt. Mike Burgamy saying "Looks like they were just trying to have a good time on the lake and obviously something went wrong.”
Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond, is in the middle of a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife Tameka Foster but TMZ reports the accident has brought them closer together, and Usher chartered a plane for Tameka to be by her son's side.
Usher's celebrity friends have gone to Twitter to post their support and prayers. Music mogul Russell Simmons tweeted "sending love and prayers to Usher and Tameka" and singer Fantasia Barrino tweeted "Everyone PLEASE pray for Usher and Tameka's son! This is the time they really need your prayers!"
Usher is one of the best selling musical artists of all time with 65 million record sales worldwide.
