It appears that Miami isn't satisfied with just the one NBA championship for their "Dream Team." Reports have surfaced that Dwyane Wade wants Ray Allen to join him in South Beach next season.
Allen might be one of the most sought after free agents this offseason, despite the fact he is no longer a spring chicken. In fact, it may be more that Allen brings more than a decade of experience in the NBA that has a Heat team already stocked with talent in Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
For its part, Boston doesn't appear to be backing down. The Boston Globe is reporting that the Celtics have actually offered more than double what Miami has available in an attempt to keep Allen in Beantown.
It does appear that the Ray Allen sweepstakes are down to the two Eastern Conference rivals, as other reports indicate that the Los Angeles Clippers have dropped out of the bidding.
The lure for Allen to play on a team that just won a title has got to be strong. Having one of the best players in the game (Wade) actively courting you with tweets like:
2morrow is a big day for #HeatNation..
Will Allen turn down a bigger payday to go to the team better situated to win now? Or will the money and team loyalty win out? The Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat and the rest of the basketball world will just have to play a game of "wait and see."
