reports James M. Seehaus, 25, was arrested on June 28, shortly after a 7-Eleven gas station was robbed.
It was not the most sophisticated robbery and getaway. Seehaus is alleged to have walked into the Palm Bay 7-Eleven with a BB gun. A white cloth had been placed around the gun to make it look more like a shotgun or rifle. He allegedly pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded "all the money in the cash register."
He did not do particularly well. He ended up with just $45—in one and five dollar bills.
A Palm Bay police officer, responding to the robbery, noticed Seehaus drive away from the 7-Eleven. The fleeing bandit was pulled over in a parking lot, about half a mile away. According to police, the BB gun was on the back seat.
A "show-up" was conducted where the clerk and another witness were taken to look at the person who was just arrested. Both identified Seehaus as the robber.
According to police records
, Seehaus has been charged with one count of robbery with a weapon and one count of larceny.
reports Seehaus admitted committing the robbery. He told police he was upset because he wanted to have sex with his fiancé and she said "no." The alleged robber also gave an alternate explanation for his crime; he needed money to pay for his car insurance. Seehaus also admitted all the money he had with him when arrested came from the robbery. Police say that Seehaus told them he would have committed more robberies if he hadn't been caught.
It was not made clear whether he would have pointed his trusty BB gun at more clerks because $45 wasn't enough to pay for his insurance, or if he knew his fiancé would again refuse to have sex with him.
