Washington - The sky was lit by a magnificent firework display last night over Washington, DC, as the country celebrated Independence Day.
While an Oregon town canceled their firework display over concern about sea birds, and many Americans were without power on July 4, there was no shortage of light in Washington, DC.
The fireworks lit the sky over the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and the U.S. Capitol, to celebrate the nation's 236th birthday.
This was part of an all-day event in the nation's capital, which began with a parade along Constitution Avenue.
