article imageNetflix exceeds 1 billion monthly hours of video viewing

By Lesley Lanir     Jul 4, 2012 in Entertainment
Netflix, the internet video streaming company, boasts they are world's leading internet subscription service for watching movies and TV programs after they seem to be gaining back popularity.
After achieving over a billion monthly views, Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, posted a thank you to chief content officer Ted Sarandos on his facebook account:
Congrats to Ted Sarandos, and his amazing content licensing team. Netflix monthly viewing exceeded 1 billion hours for the first time ever in June. When House of Cards and Arrested Development debut, we'll blow these records away. Keep going, Ted, we need even more!
This is good news for Netflix since they lost nearly 1 million subscribers last year after raising subscription prices and announcing the unpopular decision to separate their streaming and DVD businesses. It is reported that they ended the third quarter of 2011 with 23.8 million subscribers so once again they are gaining viewers. After the fist quarter of 2012, although their streaming service is not available in many countries, they state they have more than 26 million subscribers in the United States, Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Netflix, Inc report they are due to announce their second-quarter 2012 financial results and business outlook on July 24, 2012, on its investor relations website, at approximately 1:05 p.m. Pacific Time.
