The Maquis captain, Chakotay eventually becomes Janeway's First Officer. Another crew member is Seven of Nine, a Borg humanoid, played by the stunningly attractive Jeri Ryan.
They now find themselves in the Delta Quadrant and the region is unexplored. The crew meet some fascinating characters, many of them malevolent. Two crew members from the Delta Quadrant join the crew in their adventures; Neelix, a Talaxian trader and cook who becomes Janeway's guide and his partner Kes, a young Ocampan.
